SHS experiment in space
On September 23, 2005, the Russian astronaut Sergei KRIKALEV
carried out SHS experiment aboard International space station.

The experiment aimed at the effect of microgravity
on the mechanism of combustion and structure formation in powder mixtures and pelleted
samples. The specialized equipment was designed and manufactured at ISMAN, TsNIIMASh, and RSC
«Energia». Vide recordings and samples will be delivered on the ground for
detailed investigation. Experiments were carried out in a specialized apparatus for SHS studies.
