Success of ISMAN’s researchers at the elections at Academy of Ceramics

On July 17, 2002, elections of new members of the Academy of Ceramics took place during X International Ceramics Congress in Florence, Italy. The Academy is a big International Organization with the headquarters in Faenza, Italy. International Congress (CIMTEC) is held every four years and gathers up to 2000 participants. Forums and conferences take place in the intervals between congresses. About 200 leading experts on ceramics are the members of the Academy (50 from the USA, 30 from Japan, 21 from Germany, and only 10 from Russia). After last elections the number of Russian members has increased. Professor I.P. Borovinskaya, Head of SHS Research Center at ISMAN, has been elected a member (Academician) of the Academy. During the nomination her work at R&D of SHS materials and processes were remarked. Two other new Russian members of Russian Academy of Science V.N. Antsiferov and P.D. Sarkisov also were elected new members of the Academy of Ceramics.

Professor A.G. Merzhanov has already been elected Academician of the Academy of Ceramics for several terms. Now he has been elected the President until 2006.
